The surrounding forest and the glen above the falls are enough to make for a great day out. There is a dam and power plant on the Montreal River close to the falls. There is no "Peterson Falls" sign for eastbound traffic. Another scenic route is to take the Lake Superior Trail from Presque Isle to the mouth of the Carp River and then hike upstream to the falls.
